I just wanted to take a moment out of this very busy season to say merry Christmas! I love this time of year for so many reasons; family, friends, good food, the changing temperatures, the light in my kids eyes as they dream of Santa and what he’ll bring – to name just a few.
One thing that is sometimes harder to remember, but is the most important thing of all, is the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made when he came to this earth. From His humble birth to his strong ministry and example on earth, and then on to his suffering and death, He truly gave us the ultimate gift.
Now, I know we’ve all been reminded numerous times that we should remember the “reason for the season,” and that is true, but I’d like to just assume we’re all past that and add something more. My own personal goal this Christmas season, and beyond, is to remember Christ more in my daily life. I would like to remember what He did for me, and perhaps more importantly, why He did it.
We are here on earth to learn and to grow, and eventually to return to our Heavenly Father. Jesus Christ suffered and died to pay the ransom for our sins, so that we would not have to suffer for them if we would turn to Him. I am so grateful for that, and I wish to let Him take more of my burden, and give him in return my gratitude daily.
Have a great Christmas, and enjoy and savor each of the things that makes this season special for you. And in the back of your mind, say a little prayer of thanks for Jesus Christ, for His birth, life and death, and all of those things that you love and cherish will be that much sweeter.
