Mormonism/Christianity – Jesus Christ is the Center

On the official website of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (the “Mormon’s”), you find the following:

Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world and the Son of God. He is our Redeemer. The Holy Bible teaches us that Jesus Christ’s mother was Mary, His father on earth was Joseph, that He was born in Bethlehem and raised in Nazareth, and labored with Joseph as a carpenter. When he turned 30, He began a three-year ministry of teaching, blessing, and healing the people of the Holy Land. He also organized His Church and gave His apostles “power and authority” (Luke 9:1) to assist in His work.

In “The Book of Mormon,” a volume of ancient writings that were translated in the early 1800’s, you read:

And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.

On, another official Mormon church website, when you search for Jesus Christ you get about 24,000 results; on a main page about Jesus Christ on the same website you read:

A little more than 2,000 years ago, the Redeemer of humankind was born in Bethlehem of Judea. While yet an infant He was brought to the temple in Jerusalem. There Mary and Joseph heard the wonderful prophecies spoken by Simeon and Anna about the tiny babe who was destined to become the Savior of the world.

And let’s not forget, the “Mormon” church has the actual title: “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.” The “Latter Day Saints” part is simply to distinguish the church of today from the Church in the time of Christ, the members of the church being called “the saints” in former times as well  (see Acts 9:32Ephesians 2:19Philippians 1:1). You can read more here on why people call us “Mormons” today.

Quite Simply, Mormon’s are Christians

Everything you will find in what Mormon’s read and write, study and teach, is focused on Jesus Christ and his Gospel. The actions an lives of many Mormon’s strive to be in harmony with what Jesus taught while he was on the earth. Every prayer you might hear uttered by a Mormon will end “in the name of Jesus Christ.” Every ordinance in the church, including baptisms and marriages, is done “in the name of Jesus Christ.” The “Book of Mormon” has thousands of references to Jesus Christ.

No matter what nonsense the media chooses to glamorize, the proof is in the church and people themselves. We strive to be followers of Jesus Christ, and his teachings. We don’t necessarily agree with every other church out there on every point, but they don’t agree amongst themselves either; and yet we can all be followers of Christ, or “Christians.”
