When is the 2012 spring Mormon General Conference?

Spring is here, and that means the annual general conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (the LDS, or “Mormons“) is coming right up! In fact, it’s this weekend.

When is General Conference?

The main sessions for the spring 2012 general conference are:

  • Saturday Morning Session: March 31st, 2012 at 10:00am MDT
  • Saturday Afternoon Session: March 31st, 2012 at 2:00pm MDT
  • Sunday Morning Session: April 1st, 2012 at 10:00am MDT
  • Sunday Afternoon Session: April 1st, 2012 at 2:00pm MDT

If you don’t know when this is in your time zone, simply use this website to find out.

When is the spring 2012 “Priesthood Session?”

If you are a member of the church and would like to attend the 2012 Priesthood Session, you’ll have to attend in person at your local chapel (the 2012 Priesthood session will not be broadcast over the internet). The 2012 Priesthood Session will be held at 6:00pm MDT, and will be broadcast live to chapels around the country (and re-broadcast around the globe at different times I believe.)

If you are not a member, you may still listen to, watch, or read the proceedings from priesthood session, which will be posted on LDS.org after then have been broadcast!

What happens during a Mormon General Conference?

Here is a quote from an official church website on the subject:

General conference is a semiannual gathering of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During general conference weekend, Church members and others gather worldwide in a series of two-hour sessions to receive inspiration and instruction from Church leaders.

And here’s an info graphic from the same site, with some interesting tidbits!
